How do you write a review when everything went better than planned and everything far exceeded your expectations?
It’s so easy to write a bad review because you can always remember the small stand out points that made your experience bad enough to write about.
And more again …
Earlier this year we had no clue what we were doing with our little ‘needs TLC’ house.
We didn’t know if we would make it comfortable enough for us to live in, tidy enough to lease out or make her shine to put on the market.
We knew that the bathroom definitely needed something done to it. (It was a blank canvas after plumbing issues were discovered during painting)
Renovation Elves helped initially with a ton of ideas (but weren’t overwhelming) They listened also to our ideas and encouraged us while educating us a great deal.
Their ideas made sense and they explained them so well that you could visualise each of them.
Each idea/plan came with detailed floor plans & quotes- the quotes we never had to question, these guys just seemed to know us and what we were looking for.
The end result- an amazing kitchen, an extra wall in the lounge room, faultless completion and the budget has not been blown!

When renovating the family home you can be a little more adventurous because it’s for you. As you’re not planning on selling so whatever you spend on your Family Home Reno, the spectrum of time is on your side because the property will increase as time goes.
With my own house for instance we went further than we would have with any of the options above knowing full well that by the time we would sell the valuation would be so much greater. For example in our ensuite we put a in corner spa bath and had the three inner shower walls done in a gold speckled black glass. The area was fully closed in with plain glass around the outside.
As you can imagine the total cost for the glass alone was outrageous but when it’s for yourself you like to do that little bit extra.
Although you still need to look at the area you live regarding value of similar type properties as your’s.
From here, you then have a realistic idea of what you can invest in your property and recover that investment when eventually you decide it’s time to move on. See other renos on our Renovations page
We were asked to go and look at a property that had been acquired with regards to doing a major reno for a fast direct resale as the house was showing its age.
In situations like this your main objective is to create a first impression “moment”. What I mean by that is when the property goes up for sale your potential buyers walk through the front door and as they are going into different areas of the house the one thing they keep repeating to themselves is ‘yes I could live here’.
If you can achieve that you have already done probably 70% of the selling needed for a quick successful outcome.
This was the foundation for our plan on this particular project.

We took on a bathroom Rental Reno for a client who had a rental property at Crestmead, South Brisbane. The property was in reasonable condition apart from the bathroom. The owner made the fatal mistake of what I would call mistake in identity when he tried to do the reno himself, by doing some minor cosmetic alterations to the room. Not too long into the work he came to the conclusion it wasn’t going very well so he contacted us.
We were contracted to do a full reno, which was to leave the floor plan as it was and remove all existing fittings replace with new.
